In a place where there is no guarantee for dogs, one musician offers to lend her talent to give solace.
Even as loving creatures, many dogs all over the world face harsh treatments. Once they are rescued and placed in a shelter, they are met with the real struggle, and that is to find adopters who will save them from Euthanasia.
Shelters begin to survey for any interested party who can give these dogs a loving home. These pups dream of having the freedom to play and to be nestled in the comforts of a family.
They wait with nothing but hope. There is no assurance that they’ll ever find one and if they don’t, they’ll eventually be put down as the staffs’ last resort.
The place is stressful; most times, dogs are frantic; they bark loudly while others tremble in beds. To calm and give them a temporary escape, cellist, Cheryl Wallace, volunteered to perform her music.
According to research, there is power in classical music.
It reduces anxiety and stress which particularly what shelter dogs experience.
She headed to a local one in Nebraska. When Cheryl got there, she positioned herself in a chair, placed the cello in front of her torso and began playing a soothing melody. Minutes after immersing themselves in a sweet tune, the pooches started feeling relaxed, and others couldn’t help, and they fell asleep.
Cheryl shared that if it were a concert in front of people, a sleeping audience would mean an insult, but that time she did it for dogs, it meant the opposite for her. Cheryl felt that she was stroking them as she played with the strings.
She used her skills to alleviate the pups’ condition, and it was sure fulfilling. Dogs are close to her heart, and she helped them big by doing this performance.
Cheryl hopes to inspire other musicians. We hope to see more of them like Cheryl Wallace who would willingly play to give comfort and relaxation for these poor hounds!
